Wolf Creek
Giganta Beet Time
wolf creek me, loud and hard!
Water levels are peaking, no words needed (even if you could hear them.) Rushing down our hillsides in to creeks, into rivers, back to the ocean. A violent, muddy, visceral experience that happens every year. Way cool. Late May is a great time to get your white water rafting on. With a guide, if you value your life! You can check out Methow Rafting’s website for trip options. Or just sit on a rock, enjoy the soothing roar, and imagine yourself as a log in the current. That works too.
from forest fire to blue bells
The spring after 2021’s Cedar Creek fire traversed the upper Methow Valley, wildflowers are starting to cover the hillsides. From ground zero burn zone- to a field of blue bells. And yes……I meant to say FIRE fighters. Not FOREST fighters. Is that even a thing?
I’m Still Skiing- It’s Getting Weird
I know this seems totally fake, but you can still ski on great Methow nordic Trails if you do it in the morning. Admittedly, we are in the last days, but it is pretty surreal to zip by on snow and watch bits of green starting to pop in the landscape all around you. Enjoying the last of winter as we welcome a new season. Four robust and completely different seasons is part of what makes the Methow Valley such an awesome place to live. YES my thumb is over part of the camera. Gheesh
