Big Twin Little Twin- Easy Access is Underrated
You pass it all the time, but do you ever stop? You can paddle board & kayak, there are boat ramps(no internal combustion motors), and it’s one place that you have a high chance of keeping the trout you catch! Yes, please. The bird spotting is loud and abundant, you may even spot a moose in late fall. If you are looking for fast and easy nature access, this will do the trick. Ain’t no shame in it 🙂
Many people think , mistakenly, that these are private lakes. In fact, the access road is through the southern entrance to Sun Mountain Ranch Club, then you turn left onto the public access before actually entering the community. There are two separate access points from there. One to Big Twin Lake and another to Little Twin Lake.
Packin Into Cooney Lake- My Horse Adventure
Turns out being cool on horseback is not so easy. Early Winters Outfitters out of Mazama guided my party of 10 people (including 3 kids) to Cooney Lake, about 8 miles UP from Foggy Dew Trailhead (Gold Creek Carlton area). Amazing experience. I highly recommend you experience your own horse adventure one day soon in the Methow Valley. I am proof that anyone can do it. Ha!
from forest fire to blue bells
The spring after 2021’s Cedar Creek fire traversed the upper Methow Valley, wildflowers are starting to cover the hillsides. From ground zero burn zone- to a field of blue bells. And yes……I meant to say FIRE fighters. Not FOREST fighters. Is that even a thing?
